새벽 여섯 시, 오늘도 해 뜨기 전 일어나 문을 연다.
1966년 부부의 연을 맺은 스물한살 동갑내기는
원예작물과 유채농사를 하며, 해녀로 물질을 하며 5남매를 낳고 15년간 열심히 하루하루를 보냈다.
조금씩 모은 돈으로 1982년 구좌읍 세화리 주유소를 마주본 곳에 ‘세화제분소’를 열었다.
착유소이자 방앗간이었다. 곡식을 갈고, 떡을 만들고, 기름을 짜는 일은 늘 뜨거운 열기와 마주하는 게 일상이었다. 몸은 힘들었지만 마음은 힘들지 않았다.
시간이 흘러 막내딸과 손녀가 기억을 잇는다. 두 노부부는 본인들의 노하우와 기술을 온전히 전수해주는 중요한 임무가 남았다고 다짐한다. 1980년대부터 가족의 버팀목이자 동네 주민들의 사랑방이었던 세화제분소의 시간이 계속 흐르고 있다.

A couple, both 21 years old, tied the knot in 1966.
Together, they farmed horticultural crops and rapeseed, and she worked as a haenyeo (a female diver) while raising five children. For 15 years, they diligently spent each day.
With the money they gradually saved, they opened
"Sehwa Mill" in 1982, located across from a gas station in Sehwa-ri, Gujwa-eup, Jeju-si, Jeju Island. It was a mill that did many things. Grinding grain, making rice cakes, and pressing oil were tasks they did while constantly facing intense heat. Though their bodies were tired, their hearts never were.
As time passes, the youngest daughter and granddaughter continue the legacy. The elderly couple is determined to fulfill their important mission of passing down their knowledge and skills. The passage of time at Sehwa Mill, which has been a pillar for the family and an old store in the local community since the 1980s, continues on.
